Motivational Speaker Suggests Exercising Your Road Rage Away!

Writen by Dr. Gary S. Goodman

A guy behind me was continuously honking his horn as I was pulling into my bank’s parking lot.

Instead of waiting until he could move over one lane and proceed, he preferred to goad me into crunching the cars that were already at the limits of maneuverability in front of me.

Finally, the honking got to me and I threw up my hands and bellowed, “What!!!”

What could I do? Where could I go?

Seeing that I could lose it, he found a way to move around my car and to continue his journey.

Fortunately, the next stop for me was the gym. By the time I had changed clothes, I had already broken a sweat, so I was warmed up when I hit the weights. After 15 minutes of flexing, I showered, got into the pool, and swam about 20 laps.

And I was complexly mellow.

Mr. Hyde has become Dr. Jekyll, once more.

I had totally worked that impatient idiot and his honking out of my system, and it didn’t require displacing my anger onto anybody else or consuming two or more glasses of wine, which I wouldn’t have appreciated, anyway, in my mental state.

Being able to hit a punching bag or to otherwise harmlessly exercise your way back to equilibrium is not a luxury; it’s a modern necessity. If you haven’t done it yet, invest in a piece of home exercise equipment or in a gym membership, and then, especially when you’re feeling uptight, make yourself work out!

I promise you it will change your attitude, and instead of looking terrible in a mug shot, you’ll probably look great in that outfit you’ve been wanting to fit into!

the hideous poison of anger

The Hideous Poison of Anger

Writen by Maria Boomhower

When asked what gets in the way of communication most often, anger comes up. Moreover, the anger is often related to a perception of a situation that may not even be accurate. That is why anger can be a poison that sucks you in.

Judgment and ridicule can set in. Your breathing starts to change and becomes shallow and significantly faster. This pattern lowers the oxygen level in the brain, which increases the irritability, impulsivity and leads to confusion and behaviours such as threatening, yelling or hitting.

Your brain then starts searching for other reasons to be angry to justify how it feels.
By looking for reasons that can make other people bad or wrong, the mind believes it offsets or even justifies its own actions, thinking and beliefs.

It then sets up vibrations of energy that attracts more of the same and other people of the same nature. Your brain can then literately filter out anything contrary to the raging thoughts that it now feels.

All communication has stopped at this point. The other person is now defensive and on guard against the onslaught of verbal and possibly physical attacks from the other person. They no longer see this person as rational. They give no credibility to anything the other person is saying. In most instances, they are in protection mode and not even paying attention to anything the angry person is saying.

If they get angry them self, it increases the rage and adds more fuel to the fire. They now look for past behaviours that can explain the actions of the angry person. If they remember any previous angry behaviour, it is easy to conclude that the other person always gets angry.

It is important for both parties to take a time out and reflect on what the original issue was and what they wanted to relay. Try to look at, just what are the important issues and what isn’t important. Having give and take in the communication can go far is resolving issues. They could also reflect on how and why the anger built up. What about this issue brought up the anger. How does this relate to any past issue. What are the feelings that I have around this.

In most cases, anger is a secondary emotion. It can mask fear, whether it is a fear of loss or needing control of a situation. Being clear on why you reacted and can go along way in resolving the intense feelings and help you to focus on the issue at hand. Then the communication can proceed towards understanding and resolution.

invention patents

Invention Patents

Writen by Steve Valentino

Perhaps you have a great idea for a new invention. Then, you develop and test your idea. Now, you are at the stage when you need a patent for your new design. Here is some advice for obtaining any necessary invention patents. The process may seem overwhelming at first, but there are a lot of resources that can assist you.

Your first step is to contact the United States Patent and Trademark Office. You can either visit their office or website or call them. The website has information on both invention patents and trademarks. They also have an electronic filing system that will allow you to apply for an invention patent online. There is a fee to apply. Since fees can change, contact them for more information.

But, how do you know you are ready to obtain invention patents for your newly developed products or devices? Patent law defines when something is “patentable.” Basically, if someone already created or described in a journal the same invention you created, you can not obtain a patent. Contact the USPTO for more information.

After you’ve determined whether or not the law deems your idea or product patentable, you will need to develop it and test it to make sure it works. Make sure you take detailed notes and document every change you make. You can lose time by neglecting to record something, because you’ll either need to test it again or you won’t make progress as quickly.

Once your design is developed, all you need to do is file the patent and pay the fee. Then, after your rights are secured, you can begin marketing your idea. It may help if you get a business or some financing to help you through this process. Some ideas are expensive to implement.
