Smokers Have Rights To

Writen by Robert Emler

Smokers are the victims. As a smoker I fell victimized from all sides, think about this for a minute. If you smoke more then likely you were drawn into it for some reason. Such as to fit in or look cool, or any other stupid reason that could think of that influenced you to started smoking when you were younger. Cigarette smoking was made readily available to everyone. In the early years smoking was marketed as the thing to do. And our government allowed this marketing. Up until the government realized that this product was not good, and was coasting them a ton of money for health related problems. And then they put a stop to the marketing of cigarette smoking. But by then the damage was done. It was too late. So now anyone who picks up the habit gets it from somebody else how got it form someone before them how got it from someone before them how still got it from someone before them all the way back to those heavy marketing days. Victim.

In today’s society if you smoke you are punished. Some states have banned smoking in any and all public buildings. And they don’t even supply you with an area where you can partake in that nasty addiction. And that’s just what it is an addiction, brought on the public by the government and the tobacco company’s back in the early years. Victim.

The coast of cigarettes has gone way up. Why? It’s not because the tobacco company’s raised there price’s, it’s because the government has raised the tax’s on cigarettes. why? So the smokers can pay the debt brought on by the government. I don’t know about you, but I fill if I’m paying the debt, I should be entitled to something more then being shoved outside, don’t you? It would be different if the taxes where going to programs that could help someone quit smoking, but there not. Even if that where so, it would still make the smoker the victim.

So what are we the smokers to do? I say we should convict the guilty parties, the pushers if you will, of there crime. We need to fight and partition the people, to have both government and the tobacco companies pay for there crime on society. If a person wants to quit or kick the habit of smoking, then they should not have to pay for that too.

Hydrocodone Addiction - A Rising Crisis

Writen by Jack Smith

Commonly prescribed for its effectiveness as an analgesic or pain reliever, addiction to hydrocodone is today being viewed as a mounting crisis. While addiction to illicit drugs, like cocaine, marijuana and heroin that claim national headlines ever so often, is widely talked about, we scarcely know about hydrocodone abuse and addiction. For instance, did you know that hydrocodone is perhaps the most widely abused prescription drug in the United States of America? Or, that nationwide its use has quadrupled over the last decade?

Sales and production of hydrocodone have been rising significantly in the past few years. Presently, in the United States alone about 20 tons of hydrocodone products are manufactured and sold.

What is Hydrocodone?

Simply put, hydrocodone is an effective anti-cough agent. It is also an opiate, due to which it is of often prescribed for mild to moderate pain control. Often weighed against morphine for its pain control abilities, many studies have shown that when hydrocodone is taken within the prescription parameters, it is considered safe and seldom causes any addiction. In fact, under these conditions it can be used to mange pain quite successfully. Hydrocodone is sold under several brand names such as Anexsia

crystal meth addiction how serious is it

Crystal Meth Addiction - How Serious Is It?

Writen by Fritz Blanc

The images in my last month local newspaper was enough to make anyone stop for a moment and see the devastating effect of crystal meth (Crystal methamphetamine) now becoming more mainstream and reaching epidemic proportion.

The newspaper featured stories about young men and women who went from being excellent students, good mothers, good fathers, all in all good citizen to becoming shameful addicts who won’t stop at anything to get their next fix.

What really captured my attention was the transformation of these beautiful men and women. How they went from being handsome to find themself looking old and sickly after they have started using crystal meth. Beside looking old and sickly, they had all kinds of lesions on their bodies, which I later found out is called crank bugs (feeling that bugs are crawling on your skin). The lesions are caused by constantly scratching your body from the itch.

Interestingly enough, the one common denominator was that all of the people interviewed for the article said that they were hooked on crystal meth after only their first try. One of the guys went from being a well respected attorney earning about a thousand dollars a day to owing his credit card company $25,000 dollars six months later due to his addiction.

Another one of the subjects, a girl with the youthful good looks of a model before she became addicted was nothing more than a skinny looking lady that looked as though she aged 15 or 20 years once she became hooked on crystal meth.

The effect of the drug is a feeling of euphoria and a high that can last anywhere from 2 to 16 hours. The user then have more confidence, more energy and become very happy and uninhibited, which can lead to risky behaviors such as needle sharing that brings the risk of contracting hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and possibly AIDS.

Crystal meth (Crystal methamphetamine) can be either snorted, injected, or smoked in a pipe and is made of many toxic substances such as:

Lye

Ether

Iodine

Draino

Ephedrine

Brake Fluid

Lighter Fluid

Cold remedies

Lithium Metals

Hydrachloride

Hydriotic Acid

Red Phosphorus

Anyhdrous Ammonia

The side effects of crystal meth like any other street corner drug, are insomnia, agitation, irritability, dry mouth, sweating, and palpitations. The body temperature also increases, as does breathing and heart rate. The drug can also cause behavioral problems, paranoia and psychosis, especially after frequent use and in individuals with a predisposition to mental illness.

The addiction can lead to mood swings, paranoia, anger and depression that have an impact on relationships and general social interactions. Beside the permanent life-altering changes that the drug can inflict on the user such as work, relationship and job prospect, there is the ever present risk of an overdose that leads to convulsions, respiratory collapse, coma and ultimately death.

The tell-tale signs of crystal meth addiction are, lack of concentration, depression, insomnia, worrying about the next fix, etc. Crystal meth is so addictive that most users get addicted on the first try. The first thing is to acknowledge the problem and treat it as serious then seek help, which is available in every cities and smaller communities.
