A person who uses crystal methedrine just once is capable of experiencing the short-term effects of crystal methedrine addiction. Some of the short-term effects of crystal methedrine addiction include dilated pupils, rapid and pressured speech as well as decreased appetite and increased body temperature. Other short-term effects of crystal methedrine are increased mental alertness, increased heart rate, and increased energy.

People who think they will try meth ‘just once’ often fall prey to crystal methedrine addiction because they enjoy some of these short-term effects, such as increased energy and mental alertness. This boost of energy helps the user feel as if he can be more productive in life and at work, which leads to an increased tolerance of meth, and ultimately leads the need to use more to get the effect and eventually crystal methedrine.

A person suffering from meth addiction will begin exhibiting the long-term effects after abusing crystal methedrine for an extended amount of time. Extensive use of crystal methedrine, results in a tolerance to it, which forces the addict to use more in order to reach the same high. Therefore, the long-term effects of crystal methedrine addiction can include respiratory failure, heart disease, stroke, heart attack, gastrointestinal problems, seizure and coma. Less severe long-term effects of addiction include blurred vision, nausea, convulsions, fever, chest pain, and muscle spasms.

In addition to the physical affects, crystal methedrine can lead to psychological problems, such as irritability, restlessness, auditory hallucinations, paranoia, and mood disturbances. Meth addiction also can have a negative effect on relationships, when undesirable behaviors, such as stealing, lying, and cheating, croup up as the addict attempts to support the addiction.

Crystal methedrine addiction can also lead to financial ruin when all of the addict’s money is spent on getting the next high. Or, when the addict is fired from his job for poor performance or excessive absenteeism both related to the meth addiction.

nature healing method for alcoholism

Nature Healing Method for Alcoholism

Writen by Grata Young

The chronic alcoholic first of all must make a firm resolve to stop drinking. He should abstain from alcohol all at once for the habit cannot be got rid of in gradual stages.

The most effective way to treat alcoholism is to build the body’s nutritional integrity soaps to
prevent craving for stimulants like drinks. The patients should be put on a cleansing juice fast for
at least ten days in the beginning. During this period, he should have juice of an orange every
two hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The juice may be diluted with warm water, if desired. If orange
juice does not agree, vegetable juices may be taken. Each day while fasting, bowels should be
cleansed of effete and poisonous matter thrown off by the self-cleansing process set up by the
body. This can be achieved by warm water enema.

During the juice fast, the patient will usually feel no craving for alcohol. This will give a good 10
day start towards breaking the drinking habit and would help remove not only the physical
dependence but also the psychological factors. After the initial fast on juices, the optimum diet of
vital nutrients is essential. Such a diet should consist of whole grains, cereals, nuts, seeds and
sprouts, fresh fruits and vegetables.

It is advisable that in the beginning of the treatment, the patient is given a suitable substitute to
relieve the craving if and when such a craving occurs. The best substitute drink for alcohol is a
glass of fresh fruit juice, sweetened with honey, if desired. In the alternative, wholesome candy
may be taken. The patient should always have easily available juices, candy, or other snacks to
be taken between meals if he feels a craving for a stimulant.
All refined foods such as sugar, white rice, macaroni products and white flour and meat should
be avoided. The patient should eat several small meals a day in preference to two or three large
ones and avoid strong condiments such as pepper, mustard, and chilli. He should not smoke as
this will only increase his desire for alcohol.

Apples are considered valuable in the treatment of alcoholism as their use removes intoxication
and reduces the craving for wine and other intoxicating liquors. The raw celery juice is also
considered helpful. It has a sobering effect and is an antidote to alcohol.
In addition to proper nutrition, plenty of rest and outdoor exercises are necessary. The healthy
condition of the appetite centre, which controls the craving for alcohol is improved by exercise.
Yogic asans for general health such as padmasan, vajrasan, vakrasan, paschimotanasan,
yogamudra, bhuajangasan, halasan and shalabhasana and yogic kriyas like jalneti, kunjal and
simple Pranayamas like kapalbhati, anuloma-viloma, shitali and sitkari will be beneficial.

Copious drinking of water, hot fomentations on the stomach and abdomen with a wet girdle pack
between applications are also effective water treatment for alcoholism.

And finally, it will be advisable to follow the ten commandments to prevent alcoholism, offered by
psychiatrist Dr. William B. Terhune. These are:

never drink when you ‘need one’;

sip slowly;

space your drinks, taking a second drink 30 minutes after
the first and a third an hour after the second;

dilute your alcohol;

keep an accurate and truthful record of the amount and
number of drinks you take;

never conceal the amount of alcohol you drink;

do not drink on an empty stomach;

stop drinking on ’signal’ ( signals are lunch, dinner, fatigue, sex stimulation, boredom, frustration,and bedtime);

make it a rule never to take a drink to escape discomfort - either physical or mental; and

never, never take a drink in the morning thinking it will cure a hangover.

smoking linked with lower iq

Smoking Linked with Lower IQ

Writen by Lauren Wastal

Most smokers have a love/hate relationship with cigarettes.

They love the taste, hate the smell. They love the act of smoking and think that there is something “cool” about it, even though they know it is bad for their health. They want to quit but don’t want to because they love it.

And I was no different.

I had wanted to quit smoking for a long time and for all the obvious reasons: it would save money, better my health; I wouldn’t stink so much, etc. Plus, my boyfriend wasn’t crazy about kissing a smoker [and if you have, you know how gross it can be]. After, I had decided that I was going to quit [cold turkey, no less] I came across this article [http://www.hmnews.org/article2720.html] and was stunned. The first lines of the article are what really drew my attention,

“Smokers often say that smoking a cigarette helps them concentrate and feel more alert. But years of tobacco use may have the opposite effect, dimming the speed and accuracy of a person’s thinking ability and bringing down their IQ, according to a new study led by University of Michigan researchers.”

Because I, too, believed that smoking helped to think, concentrate, and be brilliant. Yet in actuality, my 6 years of smoking could be completely damaging my brain. Causing me to have a lower IQ. Smoking is just as bad as alcoholism can be to a person’s brain. While the study isn’t conclusive and solid, it still scared me enough to commit to really quit smoking. No cheating.

No smoking while drinking or socially. No smoking because I’m stressed out. No cheating.

With this article, I hope to inspire one other person to quit smoking or at least think about how much you are affecting every part of your body when you inhale.

Good luck.
